JXNU presently has more than 30,000 full-time undergraduate students in 89 bachelor programs, more than 5,000 students studying for doctoral and masters’ degrees and more than 10,000 in adult education certificate courses. The University has gained second prize of teaching achievement at national level for four times and won first prize for once, two national level pilot projects in disciplinary renovations. It has six distinctive specializations at national level, two national level off-campus practicing education bases, one national level humanity spirit education base, two national level demonstration center of experimental teaching, one national level virtual simulation experiment teaching project, three national level high quality course, two national level high quality sharing course, one national level high quality online video course, two national level teaching teams, one Huang Danian teaching team, five sets of teaching materials included in the Ministry of Education “Multiple New Teaching Materials” scheme; seven projects in the provincial outstanding talent nurturing scheme, four talent training mode innovation experiment area, ten provincial level pilot projects in disciplinary renovations, eleven provincial first-class majors (advantage majors), ten distinctive specializations, twenty-five Brand Specializations at the provincial level, twenty-six provincial level high quality courses, twenty-five provincial-level high quality sharing courses, six provincial-level high quality online video course, three educational course sharing program, five provincial level demonstration courses in bilingual education, seven provincial level teaching teams, one national education master joint demonstration base, four provincial level innovation bases in graduate student education, seven provincial enterprise joint training base, eight provincial level centers in Experimental Teaching. Since 1999 the University has been implementing a reform of the credit system, with the aim of encouraging personal responsibility, a spirit of creativity, and practical ability. The key points are “Proper management of credit, modularization of the curriculum, allowing choice in training, and the adoption of open teaching methods”. The University aims to educate a new kind of high-level specialist, with “deep foundations in specialist study, broad disciplinary capacity, high moral character and great practical ability”. In the Ministry of Education’s 2005 evaluation of the level of our undergraduate teaching our results were “Excellent”. From 2008 on, the University has recruited students according to the “first-level discipline cut-off mark” system. In recent years, the school has established an educational concept centered on “learning”, focusing on the goal of cultivating the backbone of the society, focusing on satisfying students’ four rational choices in their profession, knowledge and ability structure, teachers and their teaching methods, and independent development. In 2012, the University first initiated the student training innovation project titled “Zhengda Student”. In 2013, the University started the free-tuition teacher training programme for one thousand students, and the continuous academic programs from bachelor’s degree to master’s degree, from master’s degree to doctoral degree. Bachelor’s degree graduates from the University have a rate of first employment which is always round 90%. For many years, these rates have been the best among Jiangxi higher education institutions. In 2011, our University was among the top 50 schools in the rate of employment of graduates over the country. In 2012, the school was approved to be the first batch of pilot institutions for education informatization in undergraduate colleges and universities in the country; in the comprehensive evaluation of undergraduate majors in ordinary colleges and universities in Jiangxi province (2015-2018), our school has a total of 66 majors participating in the assessment, ranking second in the province, of which 28 majors are ranked first, and a total of 57 majors are ranked in the top three. Among the majors with 5 or more universities participating in the assessment, 20 majors from our school topped the list, and the number ranked first in the province; 45 majors ranked top three, take up the highest proportion in the province. In 2016, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a national university practice and education innovation and entrepreneurship base, becoming the first local normal university in the country and the only university approved in Jiangxi province. In 2017, it was selected as the first batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The same year, it was selected as a national demonstration universities for teachers’ evaluation and reform. In 2018, it won the top 50 universities in China for typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship.
